That's why I avoided birthing in the hospital17 Aug 2005 08:33 GMT22
My friend who is a certified doula was at a birth last Sunday at the
local hospital. She said the birth was very good and that the staff
was actually open to her input while the woman was labouring. After
the baby was born and breastfeeding was established my friend left
looking for milestone chart17 Aug 2005 06:47 GMT6
I am looking for a specific chart that I had once before, it had 3 sections,
one was some babies can.... the other was advanced babies can.... and the
final category was consult your doctor if your baby can't.....
I should have bookmarked the site, but of course I didn't.  My little ...
Scabby nipples?16 Aug 2005 23:59 GMT4
Brand new here - I just had a baby girl on Wednesday.  The nursing is
going far better than I expected, but I have a few little scabs on my
nipples.  I don't like the idea of her swallowing them, so I want to
pick them off, but I'm afraid to make it worse.  What do you think?
Update on Tara16 Aug 2005 23:53 GMT12
Just letting everyone know Tara is still in hospital, but is almost off of
oxygen now (she is on 0.25litres) She is still having seizures and therefore
will probably still be in hospital for a couple more days, she will need a
EEG and MRI but they are sure it is just epilepsy. ...
LOL: Solids15 Aug 2005 06:54 GMT2
Was just reading an article about when to start solids, and one of the
markers for readiness was that the birth weight doubled.  DS has more than
doubled his birth weight and is just 11 weeks!!  Do you think he's ready for
solids??  Nah!
switching from crib to partial cosleeping at 7 months?15 Aug 2005 04:02 GMT7
Our son is seven months old and usually gets up at midnight and 4 or 5
to feed (husband gives him a bottle). Sometimes it's only once, at 3 or
4. The problem is, he is still waking maybe 3 more times crying. He
goes back to sleep if we pat his back/replace pacifier, but his crying

Please Help Us Avoid Divorce - see attached link14 Aug 2005 21:59 GMT3
My wife is adament about getting divorced and I've made mistakes - not
infidelity or physical abuse or anything like that.  I'm trying to
convince my wife that rushing into divorce will absolutely destroy our
two daughters lives and is completely unnecessary.  It's all explained
Baby Tara14 Aug 2005 10:45 GMT19
Firstly in case you missed me, my computer has been in being repaired after
getting a virus that ran amuck through the whole system.
Anyway I am posting this to let everyone know that Tara who is 7 weeks old
is in hospital at the moment with bronciolitis. We started at the local
curious about baby teeth14 Aug 2005 01:24 GMT18
I've been wondering something for awhile. Is there any correlation
between the eruption of baby teeth and breastfeeding? I've seen some
babies with lots of teeth fairly early on, it seems.  Both of my sons
were at the other end of the spectrum...getting their first tooth at
Doctor visit13 Aug 2005 19:41 GMT26

He weighs 14 pounds, 3 ounces and is 25 inches tall. Big boy. :)
He has cradle cap which they told me to use a dandruff shampoo on every
other day and he has dry skin which they told me to use Dove soap & lotion
Shiny update13 Aug 2005 08:26 GMT19
Well, I got a call today. The Bad News is that Shiny qualifies for services
for special needs kids because she has gross and fine motor delays. The Good
News is that said services are free, and that her social skills are a
definite strong point.
Weaning13 Aug 2005 08:04 GMT13
It happened.  Niel weaned on his 6th birthday.  And sure enough,
he tried to nurse a couple weeks later when he got sick, but he
has forgotten how.  This is the end.  It is likely the very end.
I am now officially no longer the parent of nurslings (or even A
Vitamin K?13 Aug 2005 08:03 GMT11
Okay, so Shiny's had this little bruise on her back for like 3 months.
Unlike most kids, she did NOT get vitamin K at birth. I'd like to give her
some vitamin K now and see if the bruise clears up, but am trying to figure
out if I need to do it via her doctor or if there's ...
