Advice on using nipple shields27 Aug 2007 21:22 GMT2
To start off, my wife is a lurker here and a regular on m.k.p.
We had our little boy on Wednesday morning 22nd August at 3:25am.
Right away, we started breastfeeding and the baby was taking in the
colostrum. We were concerned, however, because he likes to suck on his
no bf in 4-5 days, maybe weaning27 Aug 2007 18:12 GMT3
My daughter will be 5 in October and has not nursed in about 4 days
now. Maybe it's 5 days, I didn't start keeping count til it was too
late to remember which day it was. She has only nursed at bedtime for
a few minutes for the past year.
Fertility and BFing my toddler26 Aug 2007 21:19 GMT3
I am feeding 13.5 month-old DD about 3 times a day and about three
months ago my period came back. Good news, because we are ready for
#2. I am not taking my morning temp. because I couldn't detect my
surge the first time after charting and had to rely on my trusty but $$
Couple of questions24 Aug 2007 20:34 GMT3
Well, I plan to bf #2 but I've got a few questions that someone might be
able to help me with.
With ds I bf'd till he was 15 months, but the early days were hell and I was
an inch away from giving up. The main issue was sore, cracked and split
How much non-human milk, if any?23 Aug 2007 22:43 GMT6
DD is 13 months and I'd like to wean off the pump in the daytime - am
having a hard time finding the time to pump, and she's not taking much
anyway. She's still otherwise nursed on demand (evenings and weekends)
which is a lot....I've given up trying to wean completely for now.

specific problem as well has her being 40 is the reason. She is

Anyone got a Hales?17 Aug 2007 16:46 GMT10
There is a discussion on one of the medical fora about use of
Domperidone as a galactogogue.  One problem is that the source most
people have for information on safety of drugs in breastfeeding is the
British National Formulary, which gives only very scanty information
Shaken, not swirled17 Aug 2007 04:11 GMT9
If you shake expressed breast milk it'll break down all the good stuff. Is
this an old wives tale or a proven fact? I googled and couldn't find much in
the way of proof.
How much water should Mom be drinking?13 Aug 2007 18:42 GMT9
I'm new to misc.kids.breastfeeding and am looking for some advice.  I
have a 9 day old little girl whom I'm breastfeeding.  At 3 days old,
she had lost nearly a pound from her birth weight.  But at her one-
week check up, she had gained back 5 oz.  I was pretty pleased with
Mirena and breastfeeding?13 Aug 2007 17:58 GMT5
Anyone used the Mirena (progestagen-containing coil) while
breastfeeding?  How old was your baby when you started using it and was
your bleeding pattern like?  I'm deciding whether to go for this or a
hormone-free IUCD after this baby's born, and I'd welcome any feedback

i trim and file our 3mth old nails regularly but she still manages to
scratch at night. recently she had some really bad scratches near her
tear duct. i am worried she could damage her eyes

Tips to decrease nighttime nursing?07 Aug 2007 07:30 GMT6
Breastfeeding is going well. My 5 wk. old daughter is 11 lb. 4 oz.
We've managed to stave off some problems before they started (e.g.
thrush and sore nipples). Now that I'm feeling confident with that,
I'm ready to start thinking about getting more sleep. However, I of
Constipated AGAIN?! Help!07 Aug 2007 06:00 GMT12
My poor little girl. Remeber about 6 weeks ago she went through a 3
