Punisment for 8 yr old.29 Feb 2004 10:06 GMT16
DD got a gameboy for Christmas. Her friends like to come and play on the
gameboy, but DD has been told that it must not leave the house (except of
course when we go on a car journey or something) and she must not lend the
games out.

it was hard to figure out how to word the subject line! i'm lurking in your
group. i'm a novelist at work on my 15th book. i need some examples of funny
stuff that happened when you tried to discipline your teens, ie. discipline
that backfired in a comic way. if anyone can share ...

Re: Child Support Lock Up28 Feb 2004 23:39 GMT4
My bad, I forgot that Tiffany made the salient point that the claimed
CS amount of $10,790 is *half* of the claimed amount " needed " to
raise *one child*...
So, let me correct my numbers, below...
Clothing for tweens28 Feb 2004 22:16 GMT56
My daughter is 9 and is getting to a point where she wants to pick
clothes for herself. We were in a hurry yesterday and she needed a few
new tops and pants, so my husband and I took her down to Sears with
express purpose of looking at the Lands' End stuff. Well, it's between
Meet up again28 Feb 2004 20:08 GMT3
I'm afraid I'm going to have to cry off the meet up on Sunday... I'm so
sorry!
Alex had his operation on Wednesday and although he is fine (thankfully) and
it all went well, I can tell he is uncomfortable in the car seat even on
Another special ed question28 Feb 2004 19:39 GMT10
Since I seem to have the special ed folks attention (thankyou for all
the great help so far!), and at least one has mentioned speech
therapy, I have a question about that too.
My daughter (6yo) might need speech therapy.  She pronounces all
what nappy???28 Feb 2004 18:17 GMT13
Hi all, i just thought i would come searching for a bit of advise. I have an
16 month old little girl who we used terry nappies on for quite a while but
when i started college and work it was too much to keep on top of the
washing resulting in her being in disposable nappies for a ...
Headline for Sheila--Inherent Nurturers?28 Feb 2004 15:40 GMT2
The father is left to bury his children. This is not an isolated case but is
more common than many care to acknowledge. Until family law judges get it
through their heads that mothers are not always the best caretakers of the
children, more children will be lost at the hands of ...
Parents coddling teenagers (long)28 Feb 2004 12:45 GMT11
I am the aunt of three wonderful teenagers (girlA-17; girlB-15; boy
12).  The parents are really great too, except for one thing that
really bothers me: The mother drives the girls everywhere.  The girls
both have jobs, and I've seen the mother cancel plans (or refrain from
Freinds' Son28 Feb 2004 06:22 GMT1
Our friends have a 14 year old son who is starting to date (movies, etc.)
a 14 year old girl in his class.  The parents of this boy, our friends,
describe this girl as very sweet.  However, through our son, best friends
with this boy, we have discovered that the girl places ...
reducing night feedings28 Feb 2004 02:05 GMT14
What's the best way of doing this?  My kid weighs 22lbs,
is 8months old and gets up 4 times a night.
Don't feel comfy letting him CIO.
I'll be happy with one night time feeding  ;)
What kind of car seat and where to put it27 Feb 2004 15:20 GMT8
I don't understand why I'm having so much trouble locating answers to
my questions online!
My son's father recently purchased a booster seat for my son to use in
his car.  My son is 3 years old and about 32 pounds.
bad ofsted report27 Feb 2004 15:15 GMT15
The local primary school which I had assumed I would send DD to in 2 years
(yes I'm planning ahead) has just had a terrible Ofsted report. Basically it
said that the children are happy but not learning much. Which is so
different from the report back in 1998.
