preschool philosophy - developmental or montessori?31 Aug 2005 19:27 GMT6
I'm checking out two different preschools, both are good places, etc.,
but one is developmental and the other is traditional montessori. I
don't really know much about the different philosophies - It seems like
developmental is more "in" right now than montessori - but I'm not sure
Rosalie B- an 'unusual condiction'31 Aug 2005 17:27 GMT9
The fact that in your eyes I have an unusual condiction is not reason
to be dismissive of it. I and people like me have the right to have out
condiction treated with respect. THe problem comes becuause society at

4 Year Old Molars?31 Aug 2005 13:59 GMT21
For the last two weeks, my ex-wife has been claiming that my 4 year old
son is complaining about his mouth hurting.  She says that his "4 year
old molars" are coming in.
Is there such a thing?  He hasn't lost any baby teeth yet - why would

Summer vacation is nearly over and the little ones are going back in
school at last.  Thank Goodness for that!  Sending the kids back to
school is more of a mixed blessing than ever this year, since even more
severe budget cuts have changed the face of education more than ever.

Any ratings on brands' relative level of 'corporate social
responsibility'?
I would imagine what with bad publicity in the the 90's that Nike and

rolling over in sleep31 Aug 2005 00:55 GMT12
DD (1yo) sleeps on the floor on a comforter. When she wakes up from
sleep middle of the night, she cries and crawls over, sits up etc. I
want to buy a twin bed and start getting her to sleep in it instead of
on the floor. What worries me is.. she's so mobile when she wakes up in
Original Sin No 46730 Aug 2005 22:36 GMT2
DH and DS1 were going across the railway station on their way to DS1's day
care, when they heard an announcement for an all stations train to Richmond.
DS1:  Daddy, where's Richmond?
DH:  [pointing north-west] A long way over there.

Gross motor delay-9 months30 Aug 2005 00:09 GMT4
The verdict is that Alli's definitely behind on motor
skills, but since she's developing so fast language and
social skills wise, the current plan is to do a follow up
in 6 weeks. Apparently it's not at all unusual for babies
23 month old won't fall asleep quickly at night29 Aug 2005 23:20 GMT20
My son is almost 23 months old.  He currently sleeps about 10 hours
total at night (waking once) and takes a 1.5-2 hour nap.  This is a
fairly recent reduction in sleep, as he used to sleep 12 hours at
night.
ELC29 Aug 2005 22:53 GMT1
Why is it that the most important part of the order I placed with ELC didn't
turn up? It's the one thing that DS has been asking for for ages (spiderman
suit). Just hope it gets here in time for his birthday next week. Phoned and
they promised it would. Otherwise I'll have to ...
