Calendar Ideas for Newbie15 Sep 2005 23:36 GMT12
I've been lurking in various newsgroups, including this one and m.k.p
for a while now and I've recently started taking the plunge and
actually posting, rather than just stealing ideas and taking
hypothetical sides in arguments :)

DS can't seem to 15 Sep 2005 20:03 GMT160
connect his consequences to his actions.  He's 4yo.  I'm hoping it's not
something he inherited from my mom, who has a complete lack of insight.
It's affected my relationship with her, because she can't seem to understand
the horrible things she tells me affects how I feel about ...
teaching preschoolers piano, or other musical instrument15 Sep 2005 17:29 GMT17
Our DS, 2 and a quarter, shows interest in music and piano, so I was
wondering about putting some time and energy into actually teaching him, as
well as letting him experiment for himself. Both DH and I can play, though
not to a high standard, we both know about rhythm and ...

LA:  CS Payment Hotline Established For Hurricane Survivors In Texas 15 Sep 2005 02:25 GMT1
Of course, there's not a single bit of information about how those NCP's
that have had their livelihood washed away in the flooding are going to be
able to make those payments...  The state just wants to make certain the
money doesn't stop - for any reason!
We're banned ;-)14 Sep 2005 20:39 GMT9
Ds handed me a copy of his new secondary school Internet policy.
Amongst other things, it says
"Students must not use chat rooms, USENET conferences or news groups."
UKPP is banned twice over.
Napping 8 month old on a Schedule?14 Sep 2005 19:06 GMT5
I finally have my 8 month old going to sleep for naps on his own
(yay!). I used a modified Ferber approach, going in to pat his back
every 30-60 seconds.
He used to start napping between 8:30-9:30, then between 12:30-1:30. I
8 month old Stopped Eating Solids--Any Suggestions?14 Sep 2005 17:23 GMT1
My 8 month old stopped eating solids about a month ago (he had been
doing quite well with baby food from about 5-7 months). I try feeding
him baby food, having him self-feed finger food, cheerios, cut up
fruit, meat, and veggies. He's just not interested. Has anyone had a

Age to let child out of sight?14 Sep 2005 16:52 GMT5
We have recently moved to a street with lots of kids aged about 9-10.
We have two children, one of which is a 7 year old boy with dyspraxia
- he's a great kid but often has his head in the clouds.  Two boys
have started to call for him which was great as he loves playing with
Praise the Lord for the California governor!14 Sep 2005 09:30 GMT20
Governor Arnold Swarzenegger plans to veto a bill that would allow same sex
marriages, because he claims that marriage is defined as between a man and

Piercing ears14 Sep 2005 04:30 GMT17
Has anyone had their daughter's ears pierced when they were 1-1/2 years old?
How was the success as far as them not trying to pull the earrings out of
their ears?  I'd like to get my DD's done.  She is always pulling on my
earrings and wonder if she'll do the same thing with hers ...
