| Rant: Navigating the maze of caregivers and birth choices | 09 Jun 2004 23:01 GMT | 7 |
Kat's thread on Will's birth story really got me thinking about the past couple weeks. You see, with my daughter's hospital birth, I did everything "right" that I knew about at the time in order to have a positive birth experience, and to put it bluntly, it sucked. Well, 11 years ...

| Pregnancy Complications (VSD, SUA) | 09 Jun 2004 20:43 GMT | 10 |
Hi. My wife is pregnant with her first child. I'm 22, she's 20, she's now in her 30th week and the 21st wk ultrasound found that she has a single umbilical artery (SUA) and so we were told to get a foetal echocardiography. This was performed yesterday and the foetus was discovered ...

| 19 week appointment | 09 Jun 2004 20:24 GMT | 2 |
I love my OB, really I do, but I wish he would lay off me about my weight gain. I have never gained less than 50 lbs. in any pregnancy, and have gained as much as 70, so it's not likely that's going to change now. Honestly, I don't eat junk, I just get very, very hungry as soon as ...

| Back to my midwife (went ok!) | 09 Jun 2004 17:32 GMT | 1 |
The midwives office called me and asked me if I would want to come in for a 4 week appointment instead of waiting 6 weeks to see the OB. They knew after labor, I made the appointment with the OB. I decided it would be healthy for me to go back to the midwives, and let go of the ...

| Good news | 09 Jun 2004 14:31 GMT | 5 |
I can't even begin to explain all the craziness that's been going on lately...so I won't try. But I did have to pass along some news I'm absolutely ecstatic about. My glucose test came back normal. YAY!!! (and my Rh antibody test...but I wasn't really worried about that

| How many c/s can you safely have? | 09 Jun 2004 04:48 GMT | 31 |
My friend has just given birth to her second son, was hoping to vbac but he was 9lb and she spent hours and hours without pain relief with contrax 3 mins apart, and failed to progress, so she got a repeat C. She's bounced back from it, has recovered a lot better than with her first, ...

| Heartbeat and gender? | 09 Jun 2004 04:40 GMT | 8 |
I read in another post that a midwife's reaction to a 160 heartbeat was "It's a girl!" My baby's heartbeat was also 160 at week 12. Is this heartbeat thing just an old wife's tale, or are there some hints indicating that it could be rooted

| Medication & Conception | 09 Jun 2004 01:13 GMT | 3 |
I have two questions regarding conception: 1) My wife and I are trying to have a baby and I am on some prescription medication. The medication is for bi-polar, chronic manic depression, and insomnia. I am on a couple of mood stabilizers,

Okay, roll call time. All you gorgeously pregnant nine-monthers, are you ready to strangle someone yet, or are you still enjoying the last few moments of your in-utero baby? You're almost there!! How's the last month treating you all? Everything ready for the birth, bags

| Smoked foods ok? | 08 Jun 2004 22:22 GMT | 9 |
I'm trying to find out if smoked foods are ok during pregnancy. I know deli-style "smoked" stuff is dangerous because of listeria, nitrites, etc., but what about meat that's smoked at home? Unless there something inherently bad in the smoking process, I can't

| New carseat after 5 years? | 08 Jun 2004 21:21 GMT | 14 |
I am expecting my 3rd baby in October with my oldest being 4.5 years old. I have been told a few times that I should be buying a new infant carseat for this new baby. The infant carseat (carrier) that I have is 5 years old (I received it from my baby shower in 1999) and has been ...
