max's 8 week appointment29 Oct 2004 23:10 GMT20
Well, he's nearly 14 pounds (I forget exactly what), 63.5cm long (IIRC -
obviously, I don't have the paper in front of me), and he was a very
good boy about his first needle.  :-)  He gave out one big long cry
while the needle was in, but after that, he laughed and needed no
Insurance mess29 Oct 2004 18:13 GMT12
Well, the good news is that I may be going home sooner than expected. The
bad news is the reason-while my OB has stated that he prefers to keep me on
hospital monitoring, apparently Blue Cross/Blue Shield has decided I'm
stable enough to go home, even with a history of things coming ...
The Presidential Campaign is Over29 Oct 2004 17:20 GMT34
This election is over because fatigued voters want it to be over.
Voters are tired of the overheated rhetoric, of the Michael Moores and the
Swifties. They're tired of the half dozen daily tracking polls. They're
tired of being told that tens of thousands of lawyers will make a ...
Birthing pool vs. bath29 Oct 2004 01:42 GMT10
I was hoping to use a birthing pool at home (we can hire them), but I am
seriously thinking that there is no way we will be able to get one in to the
house.  Has anyone laboured in the bath, and if so, what was it like?  I
used the shower last time (pool wasn't filled, and no bath ...
Midwives in Charlottesville, VA?29 Oct 2004 01:18 GMT1
Hi.
I've called 4 midwives, and they all sound so nice on the phone I
can't decide! Does anyone have any good or bad experiences that would
help me make up my mind?

Saw your post about sending me the Excel due dates file and I responded that
I hadn't received it. I know you've been incredibly busy and may not have
had a chance to resend it but just wanted to make sure that my reply hadn't
been missed. Thanks.
I found the cause of my nausea29 Oct 2004 00:11 GMT11
I have finally discovered the root of why my nausea has come back. It's
quite simple, really: everytime I start to think about childbirth, delivery,
contractions, pushing, getting separated from my baby, I start to get
nauseated.
My day in L&D28 Oct 2004 22:43 GMT14
Well today started out like any other.. woke up at 5:30 am and could not get
back to sleep for anything but stayed in bed until about 7.. Funny how the
days you want your kids to get up early they dont;)  Anyway By the time Jeff
got home I was STARVING and dizzy and nausous to no ...
20 weeks28 Oct 2004 22:38 GMT11
Had my scan today.  Everything is fine, baby is healthy and
everything.  I'm doing well but finding work overwhelming and tiring
at the moment.  A lot to put in place before I go on leave (I started
a new job 12 weeks ago).
Pregnancy - Pre-existing condition for insurance purposes?28 Oct 2004 17:47 GMT9
My wife is currently covered under her employer's group health plan.  She is
now pregnant and will quit her job somewhere around the 6th month.  Do HIPAA
regulations allow her to join my group health plan?
I asked the HR director at my company, and he says no... I can find

(With many thanks to Mary S., original author!)
Welcome and congratulations, if you're just found out!  Do you feel
pregnant yet, or is it still new and stunning?  Have you started telling
people?  Started to look around at the hospitals and birth centers near

My BP was 146/90, but there is no significant swelling or protein, and it went
down (134/70) after lying on my left side, so the doctor said I need to rest
more.
Cervix is still the same, 2 cm.
Donna update28 Oct 2004 09:15 GMT2
I noticed she hadn't posted for several days, so I went over to the
preeclampsia site where we both post periodically.
She's posted to preeclampsia.org that this weekend she was put on
hospital bedrest.  (Looks like her DH's company loaned her a
