Stem Cell Research - Is it Right Or Wrong?18 Nov 2004 21:35 GMT41
It has been said that stem cell research may lead to cures of hundreds
of serious illnesses. People like Christopher Reeve may one day walk
again, if this line of research is aggressively pursued. The drawback
is that an abortion needs to be performed to obtain embryonic stem
craving for pickled herring18 Nov 2004 19:36 GMT8
I guess since pickled herring isn't cooked,
it's off limits during pregnancy...?

Wife's birth story - short version 18 Nov 2004 18:48 GMT1
Hey all,  (I'm posting this a 2nd time, it didn't work the first time
around)
I've been meaning to let you guys know about the events for a while now but
have been really swamped with baby & recovering wife stuff.

40+ weeks and no progress, HELP!18 Nov 2004 12:17 GMT17
I am 40w2d. My exam yesterday showed no dilation, no effacement and no
descent of the baby. I had a non-stress test and an u/s, which were both
normal, thank God.
This can't be very normal :-( Is it because of my age (39)? Is it some type
39 weeks appointment18 Nov 2004 11:34 GMT10
All right. This is a bit long, but it's the conclusion to my ranting and
complaining original post...
No more whining and complaining.  I had a very good chat with my midwife
this morning, and all of a sudden everything seems to be better than it was
34 weeks18 Nov 2004 10:51 GMT2
The operative word this week is more-more fluid retention, higher average
blood pressure, and more protein-but nothing to the point where we need to
worry about it, as long as there isn't a drastic change and the baby is
doing well. He did request that they do a growth scan with the ...
Updates...18 Nov 2004 10:49 GMT26
Since it seems to be the season for updates...
Sweet "little" Genevieve just turned 16 months, and is a
little dynamo.  She's got a fierce little temper on her,
but she's also a great deal of fun.  She's got a wicked
Asking for an opinion/flu17 Nov 2004 23:13 GMT13
Ok. I mentioned under the milestones thread that I have changed to a
different group practice of pediatricians for Rachel. We found a highly
recommended doctor, and he is EXCELLENT. Rachel (and all the other babies
and kids I saw) LOVES him. He is really really good with kids, plus ...
Hot or Cool Mist humidifier17 Nov 2004 20:32 GMT8
Not sure if this is an appropriate place to post this type of  a question
but here goes...
We have a Vicks coolmist humidifier that seems to evaporate about a gallon
of water overnight but the air doesn't feel humid at all.  Also, it seems to
Andrea?17 Nov 2004 20:18 GMT1
I read the "how old is too old thread" and after reading your info about
your kids had a few questions for ya if it's ok?
I'm pg with my first, and EVERYONE harps on how hard and trying it will be
to have kids (I want more!).  And a lot of days I freak out myself.
Getting mad... longuish rant17 Nov 2004 19:32 GMT49
Yesterday I had two comments I could have lived without...
First, my mother.  I don't know what's wrong with her these days, but she's
very snappy and can't handle any counterargument about anything.  Good thing
she doesn't live nearby; I can always ignore the phone.
Epidurals17 Nov 2004 18:03 GMT16
This is my first child and I am a little nervous about it. Can someone
give me some of the pros and cons of having an epidural. Are there
risks involved? Thanks
3rd pregnancy sooo much harder?!17 Nov 2004 16:36 GMT12
Hi guys.  I've been lurking for awhile, but decided to jump in and say hi
officially.  I have two boys, 3 and 4, and I am 5 months pregnant with our
third child (a girl!).  I'm just wondering if anyone else in similar
circumstances (two small kids, etc.) has experienced the third ...
Naming question17 Nov 2004 16:16 GMT5
I know, I know....
Here's the situation. We've finally come to a girl name we can both live
with--did so a couple days ago. Just found out today that someone we *were
not* thinking about when we picked the name, but whose name is very closely
