| Level II Ultrasound? | 21 Dec 2005 21:21 GMT | 17 |
How invasive (or non-invasive) is this? Is it basically the same as the standard one but with a higher powered machine? How useful is it, really? My OB is strongly encouraging a triple screen. I told her my

| "The urge to push" -- question | 21 Dec 2005 16:53 GMT | 42 |
Okay, so I am a far way off from the point where this is going to be an issue, but I was just thinking... Does every woman really get "the urge to push" when she is laboring? Before I had DD, my mom and sister-in-law both told me labor "war

I am having rather consistent lower back pain, kinda period pain style pretty much constantly now, could this be a sign of labour starting. I am not getting strong painful contractions other than this uncomfortable lower back ache!!!!

| Humidifier recs? | 21 Dec 2005 10:19 GMT | 9 |
I understand babies get sick more easily in homes where the air is very dry, and am thinking of getting a humidifier. I could use it myself, actually, as it does get unbearably dry by the morning. We live in an open loft with central air and can't afford to install a

| homebirth in principle, but not in practice? | 21 Dec 2005 09:49 GMT | 7 |
I've been having some musings, both of my births were booked as homebirths and both happened in hospital, as Ada grows older my mind turns to next time, if there is one, which does require some analysis of past events. Intellectually I am all for homebirths and strongly believe ...

| Follow up question re: Level II u/s | 21 Dec 2005 09:23 GMT | 3 |
If it's non-invasive (or no more so than the regular u/s), and gives a clearer answer to potential problems than the triple screen, why is the triple screen done in the first place? I can see doing it before amnio - not only is it invasive but more

| Managed VS natural births | 20 Dec 2005 20:35 GMT | 27 |
I mentioned a while back that of all the women I know who've had babies, the only one who didn't receive some kind of medical intervention at birth was the woman who had the baby at home. Everyone else was either induced, augmented, c-sectioned, or forcepsed. I

| post partum exercises? | 20 Dec 2005 18:23 GMT | 10 |
I need a reccommendation on some good low impact exercises I can do for my abs, back, etc. Just for feeling more flexible and getting some ab strength back. I can't do formal exercise obviously for several weeks, and even walking right now is out because of some healing ...

| Deciding whether to have ultrasound | 20 Dec 2005 17:45 GMT | 20 |
We had the typical 18-20 week ultrasound with both of our first children, partly because we never thought to do otherwise, partly because of the fun involved (and we wanted to know the sex), mostly for reassurance. This time, I'm not so sure I want to do it. I've never had any ...

| What week am I? | 20 Dec 2005 13:52 GMT | 1 |
I will be getting confirmation from my OB of what week I'm actually in when I make my first appt, but I am curious to know now. I am due 9/1. My first day of my last MC was 11/24. I ovulated somewhere between 12/2-12/6.

| what is it with doctors? | 19 Dec 2005 22:37 GMT | 3 |
doctors have been stressing over my friends baby, too small, not growing etc, she arrived last night weighing 7lb2oz, so I suppose her growth could have been slowing, but I doubt it, the mum's bump seems to have grown each time I saw it, whereas another friend they did twig that ...

| Live in nanny rates | 19 Dec 2005 22:20 GMT | 18 |
I realise this varies drastically from place to place, I'm just trying to get a general idea of salaries, hours worked, how the situation works out, etc. Here's our situation, which is still a hypothetical:
