Second visit to midwife12 Dec 2005 19:33 GMT1
No sugar in my blood and the glucometer gave me A-1. So far, no sign of
diabetes.
I've gained only 1 pound in the past four weeks, but reviewing my previous
pregnancy my midwife told me not to get my hopes up too much: I had the same

CHECKING CERVICAL DIALTION YOURSELF12 Dec 2005 16:38 GMT1
As A Labor and Delivery nurse of 15 years iI can tell you many variables as
to why you should NOT do personal dilation checks.
1- you could accidentally break you own membranes (waterbag) and if the head
is too high, you could have a prolapsed cord (although rare) it does happen

Hi Peeps
My baby tends to suffer alot from hiccups in the womb and I am wondering if
there is anything that I can do to try and prevent them. I feel baby and

room temp for newborn?12 Dec 2005 15:46 GMT8
Ok, this baby HAS to come sometime, and we are getting to some chilly
nights.  We live in one of those charming old homes that have zero
insulation upstairs.  Our bedroom is generally around 59-61 degrees
farenheit at night, which is fine for us - we just heap on more blankets.
out (gasp) of (gasp) breath12 Dec 2005 14:01 GMT10
I've been winded easily this past week or so, from just mild exertion.
I'm only five (almost six) months along, and not all that large. I don't
remember getting short of breath this early along with my first
pregnancy. Is this normal, or am I a freak?

checking your own cervix for dilation11 Dec 2005 18:08 GMT22
Just thinking about my birthplan - I'm booked in to the local hospital, but
want to remain home for as long as possible.  You hear stories about women
that go in and find they have hardly dilated at all, and either get sent
home, or spend hours in hospital rooms - which does not ...

Back pain in late pregnancy and posterior presentation10 Dec 2005 05:56 GMT11
My midwife said a lot of very painful unproductive labour and
C-sections are caused when a baby has a posterior presentation: ie.
when the baby faces the mother's stomach, rather than the mother's
back.  She says this is called back labour as well and can cause
Question On Fetal Heart Rate10 Dec 2005 01:54 GMT3
My wife and I had the first ultrasound done, they have determined she
is about 10 weeks pregnant and also the fetal heart rate was 179bpm.
The person doing the u/s said that was good although I have read a lot
of websites that say the normal range is between 120 - 160bpm and if

I had my ultrasound today.
We wanted to find out the sex because I've been hoping for a girl.  Well it
is boy - actually it is...
Two boys.  Twins.  I'm not really ready for that.  The excitement hasn't hit
