| update on "getting the baby out", and birth announcement | 06 Mar 2006 16:25 GMT | 7 |
I posted here a couple of weeks ago about my OB recommending a caesar because of my age, baby's gestational age, and presumably non-existant fibroids. Well, I decided to wait it out, and the OB respected that so long as I went for a checkup at the hospital every two days (CTG and ...

| Pregnant or not | 06 Mar 2006 12:27 GMT | 3 |
Hope you can help. My partner has missed 2 periods now, all the home and GP pregnancy tests are negative however we have heard that as they all test for HCG it is possible to be pregnant and not test positive? Does anyone have any experience either direct or anecdotal about this?

| First baby - not engaged at 39 weeks | 05 Mar 2006 18:30 GMT | 6 |
A woman on another discussion group I read is 39 weeks and not engaged. She's received a couple of rather alarming responses, including one from an OB who says there is a "growing body of evidence" that first-timers who aren't engaged by 39 weeks have a "high rate of dysfunctional ...

| Is there such a thing as a -too- active baby? | 04 Mar 2006 02:48 GMT | 4 |
I'm 27 weeks, and my baby is suddenly being -extremely- active. He has been jumping and wiggling, almost shaking/vibrating sometimes, for about the last 24 hours straight, with virtually no breaks. I am sick with a stomach flu, which is not only why I know he has been active for

| My insurance, which claims to cover midwife services/homebirth 100%, only does so on paper | 03 Mar 2006 19:31 GMT | 5 |
My midwife submitted info to my insurer to establish a case. I received a letter saying it was denied. After 3 round of phone calls, holds, messages, "I can't tell you anything" responses,

| spotting at 20 weeks-need to hear some positive stories | 03 Mar 2006 18:20 GMT | 5 |
Hi- I should probably reintroduce myself since it's been a while and I think I had a different email when I used to post here. I'm 34, SAHM for now, but eventually planning to go back to work (I'm an internist by training) and have one DD age 18 months, and now due with DS is

| Best book on relaxing? | 03 Mar 2006 18:15 GMT | 4 |
A terrible cramp in my leg tonight -- and my panicked response -- reminded me that I really need to brush up on my relaxation techniques. Any recommendations for particular books or audio books? They don't have to be pregnancy-specific. Thanks!

| OTC drugs during labor | 03 Mar 2006 06:44 GMT | 32 |
I've had to take acetaminophen (Tylenol) a few times recently, due to my tail bone trying to kill me. I've been surprised at how well it works to get rid of pain. So my mind started wandering... what if someone takes OTC drugs during labor? Obviously they wouldn't do anything ...

| GD 75 g test | 02 Mar 2006 23:01 GMT | 3 |
Well, it's finally done. This morning I went up to the hospital and got the damn thing behind me. Funny, the infamous orange drink didn't taste so bad to me - probably because as a kid I used to be a real fan of Fanta (called "orangeade" in French). I must admit the last sip was ...

| maybe pregnant, when to resume pill? | 02 Mar 2006 00:22 GMT | 3 |
I have been feeling nauseaus, ultra-tender nipples and acute sense of smell. I've always had a good schnoz but the other symptoms feel very different/atypical. I feel pregnant. I've been on the pill for two years, though I must admit, I'm not super

| 31 week update | 01 Mar 2006 18:19 GMT | 17 |
Well I had an appointment today. All is good in the world of Nikki, Thing One, and Thing Two :-) Estimated weights are 4lbs4oz and 4lbs5oz. Right around the 50% so I'm happy about that and even more happy that they are so close in size.
