reason for avoiding fast heart rate26 Nov 2008 10:19 GMT8
so, in some pregnancy books I've seen advice about exercise suggesting
to not have the heart rate go above a certain point, I assumed the
reason for this was that with no cooling mechanism, this avoids the baby
getting it's core temperature too high. I was just wondering if that ...
Beautiful film on natural childbirth25 Nov 2008 21:56 GMT1
I just watched a beautiful film called Birth Without Violence. I think
it’s a book too, but I haven’t read the book yet. It was so lovely.
Highly recommended.
It was different than I expected: black and white - no soundtrack -
Music that helps me sleep while pregnant!!22 Nov 2008 08:49 GMT3
I found out about 3 weeks ago that I am about 60 days pregnant. Thi
will be my first child. Both my husband and I are thrilled! However
haven't been able to sleep at ALL since finding out as there is so muc
to think about - doctors, vitamins, decorating, childproofing, buyin
I'd appreciate any wisdom on type of birth...22 Nov 2008 02:15 GMT15
OK, I know ultimately this is a decision only I and my husband can make.
I have a vague recollection from after I last gave birth that even
some of the natural minded amongst you were pretty surprised I'd not
ended up with a c-section.
Social etiquette and pregnant ladies18 Nov 2008 20:26 GMT14
I am confident this is a dumb question.  I hope this is a dumb
question.  But I have to ask.
When it comes to social events that are at least somewhat centered
around drinking -- get-togethers after work or in the evening at a
finding out hospital info14 Nov 2008 21:56 GMT4
I had my 2nd appointment with our midwives this morning, so we were able
to ask our questions about transfer for various reasons and the all
important filling the tub.
We found out that they have a relationship with a group of 5
Braxton-Hicks-type contractions very early14 Nov 2008 17:13 GMT4
Okay, clearly I am having a bad few days.
I am still feeling quite miserable from my sinus infection, and I
admit I am having a bad day in general -- work-wise, money-wise, in
addition to health-wise.  I don't know if it's stress (from the bad
Prednisone in 2nd trimester11 Nov 2008 21:40 GMT11
I am 19 1/2 weeks with #3.  I have been having a terrible sinus
infection for the past 2 weeks.  It is keeping me from sleeping,
giving me constant headaches, and generally making me feel awful.
I went to see my family practice physician, and she prescribed me an
Nicotine patch while pregnant?11 Nov 2008 21:32 GMT2
I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about this.
I find I am getting mixed messages and answers wherever I look.
I ended up finding a (somewhat) local study about using a nicotine patch
while pregnant...
another expecting the unexpected04 Nov 2008 15:17 GMT39
I guess that counts as an announcement! Much to our surprise we seem to
be expecting number 3. Over the last few months I finally got to the
point where I was content with not having another child, regardless of
happenings in pregnancy we'd planned to have a gap between 2 and 3
Numb hands?02 Nov 2008 08:01 GMT5
Is this normal?
My hands seem to just go numb.  I have no idea why and I've never had this
before.  It's always when I wake up after sleeping, though.  It's happened a
number of times in the last 2 or so weeks...
Pre-term labor?02 Nov 2008 04:50 GMT10
* 25 and 26 weeks: frequent contractions (once every 5, 6 minutes), no
pain, monitored in hospital, spaced out later on
* 28 weeks: found short cervix, 1.5cm, given two steriod shots
* 31 weeks: dilated 1cm, effaced 80%, -1 station
hospital transfer01 Nov 2008 15:13 GMT3
maybe some of you who've planned or considered homebirths in the USA can
give me a perspective on this, I've been reading through the
documentation from the midwives on informed consent, one of the things
is transfer to hospital and that in an emergency it would be 911 to the
