I was talking to a (single) friend at work about my recent step-son,
husband woes, and the response I got was that "you guys aren't a

I recently married a woman who has a ten year old daughter.  The three
of us have lived together for five years prior to the mairraige and
the daughter always called me by my first name, of course.  Now that
we are married, my wife and I both feel that the girl should call me

Sheesh, look what happens when I go visit my mom and sister for a
couple of weeks. You all stop posting!
My visit was great, my sister's new house is **gorgeous** (Glen Ellyn,
IL), and I have returned, imbued with the determination to un-dingify

What's a good engagement gift?  I don't know that I've ever bought an
engagement gift.  We're going to see them tomorrow evening and I'd like to
