Question - not so unique06 Oct 2003 18:21 GMT1
Background:  For the last2-3 years that my SD has been living with her
father and SM she has done nothing but complain to us about how she is
treated.  I used to think that it was the usual wanting to tell us hwat she
thinks we want to hear stuff (bad mouthing one set of parents to ...

New to this group, but in another life was very active on the single parents
newsgroup (Didi, you post here now, don't you? Hey girl!)
I guess you could call me a pseudo-stepmom now, as my boyfriend, who has his
9yo daughter on alternating weekends and the occasional weeknight, has ...
Step-parent/Child conflict05 Oct 2003 22:16 GMT6
What do you do when your 16 year old daughter and your husband of 6 years
absolutely cannot get along, no matter how hard they've tried?
It's easy for someone to say leave him because your child's happiness is
most important, but not when you have three other children together.   Do
*a little long* Need opinions *slash* advice05 Oct 2003 17:11 GMT44
Okay,  here's what I need some help with:
I recently had my girlfriend  and her children move in with me after a
rather long involvement but until recently, I haven't been overly involved
with the children.  There's a boy 8, a girl 7 and another girl @ age 4.  Her

I have 2 son's 16 and 18 who have little to no contact with their BF. Thats
a whole long story in it's self, but the problem is I recieved a threating
phone call from his current wife, about how my youngest son HAS to call his
Dad or I would be very very sorry. That they will make ...

Jane, Tracey said you can't get long posts.  I'm not sure how short they
have to be, but I'll break this up.  This is my response to you from
yesterday afternoon; I'll send a few posts to get it on the board in its
entirety.

You know nothing about me then.  I like making things harder on kids, not
Help!  Going to give up after 7 years! Overreacting? (Long)04 Oct 2003 01:29 GMT204
I am step mom to a 12 year old SD (who acts and dresses like she is
18) and a 15 year old SS (expelled from school 7 times last year -
twice this year already! Smoking in school, skipping school, fighting,
etc.)
OT/Sci Fi for an 8YO?03 Oct 2003 21:54 GMT32
Hey, can anyone recommend good science fiction for an almost-8YO?  He
doesn't have the attention span for anything really long, but thinks he
wants to get into science fiction/fantasy.  He's been trying to read Harry
Potter and the Hobbit for _ever_, but just can't deal with the ...

But I DID.  *sigh*  I remarked that it's *not* "punitive" at all.  My

Jane, I have no idea what to say to you either.  I say one thing and AFAIC
tell, you perceive another.  You write it out as if it makes sense to you,
SD17 Goes Up and Down02 Oct 2003 11:12 GMT1
Wow, SD17 is a kid with ups and downs.  I think we were spared this when she
was younger, but in the past year she's had such unusual (but perfectly
normal) mood swings.
Last night, DH was talking to her about something, and SD got all huffy and,

This is a question to all of the UK folks.  Over there, do you pronounce scones
as "skohns" or "skahns"?
